Road to Phnom Penh

Emerald Buddha Pavilion at the Royal Palace

The road to Phnom Penh was eventful... we discovered that the "VIP" buses here actually stand for "Virtually Impossible to Pee" as after they load 3 mopeds in front of the bathroom door it's a little difficult to use. Jen found that out the hard way! Lesson learned - ALWAYS pee anytime you have the chance! Then while Jen was "holding it" we almost died! A cow wandered into the road, but luckily the very skilled bus driver was able to swerve in time...Jen almost leaked a little! That was the bus ride. Our reward however for surviving the bus ride was the incredible Presidential size suite (fit for Oprah or Justin Bieber) that Charlie booked for Jen. Way to go Charlie! Just wait until you see Jen's video of the room...
We saw a lot of humbling & heartwrenching things at the Genocide Museum & Killing Fields (makes you really appreciate how fortunate we really are). On a lighter note our very talented tuk tuk driver, although running out of gas was able to coast into the gas station. Way to go tuk tuk driver! We'll never forget that proud smile he flashed us as if he had just done something really special! The Royal Palace, Emerald Buddha & Silver Pagoda were incredible! Now we're headed back to our "palace" for a much needed shower & Happy Hour before Charlie takes Jen out for one last "Francais" meal before departing this wonderful city in a private car (no more "VIP" bus)!
Our reward for the "VIP" bus trip!

Jen LOVES her elephants!

Keepers of peace in front of the impressive replica of Angkor Wat
There's just something about seeing a delicate little girl with no helmet on this close to a truck tire that lets you know that Cambodia doesn't play by the same set of rules as the U.S. - this was fascinating to us...

Jen's "Southeast Asian Look"

Through the windows Charlie & Jen were looking at each other's reflections in the grand mirrors of the Silver Pagoda when Jen decided to take Charlie's photo, but quickly realized that she had accidentally left her flash on! Out of respect, Jen whispered her sincerest apologies to the Emerald Buddha but needless to say they ran before security had a chance to escort them out. NO photos or flash photography are allowed in the Silver Pavilion which houses the Emerald Buddha... Oops!
The beautiful Bougainvillea Restaurant in the hotel that Charlie took Jen to for a grand five course meal on their last night in Phnom Penh.

Even monks get modern with "rope lights".
